Quieting Your Inner Critic & Developing Nurturing Self-Talk

Do you ever find yourself wrestling with your Inner Critic? You are not alone. I had the pleasure of assisting former Military wife, Tinita Tennant, to quiet her Inner Critic. Like most people, Tinita found herself often engaging in negative self talk, while simultaneously being one of the nicest people to everyone else!

She was kind enough to invite me to help her dive deeper and differentiate between her Inner Critic and who she is at her core. Making the trap of negative self-talk not only identifiable, but also replaceable!

Together we walked through quieting her Inner Critic using my N.I.C.E framework. We focused on:

Nurturing Self-Talk

Integrity

Compassion & Commitment

Emotional Intelligence

If you are curious about how my NICE framework can help you in quieting your inner critic, grab a copy of my NICE workbook and listen in as Tinita allows me to guide her in applying this in her personal and professional life.

The inner critic is tough love gone wrong!

I recently spoke with Dr. Walter Sims on The Dr. Sims Daily Show to discuss the inner critic, the barrier that prevents us from stepping into the higher version of ourselves. Or as I like to say: tough love gone wrong! I also take the time to break down the difference between my work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Life Coach. If you’re curious about why we at times are our own worst critics this may resonate with you. I break down what the inner critic is and what we can do to quiet its voice!

Is COVID-19 Ruining Your Relationships?

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a difficult time for many. Whether you started out social distancing with your significant other, family members, friends, or your kids - the fact that we are in one space for long periods with one group of people or alone, can’t mingle from girls/guys night out to social events or just from person to person is affecting a lot of us on a mental level. COVID-19 has and is actually ruining relationships! Quarantining for long periods of time with people you thought you got along with is causing some to take a closer look at their relationships. On the other hand, not being able to keep up with certain relationships, due to social distancing and stressors is also causing people to cut ties with relationships. Seeking professional help is key during this time. On today's podcast we have Dr. D, a marriage and family therapist, here to save and enlighten us on how to salvage our platonic and non-platonic relationships during this time and how to build emotional intelligence. As an added bonus check out Dr. D's 'Resilient Living' app as a great self-help tool to transform your mind and relational skills.
